The documentary “SIZA” has been selected for 24 international film and architecture festivals, consolidating its global projection and recognition as one of the most relevant productions of its kind.

Gallery Institute is pleased to announce the world premiere of “SIZA”, a documentary dedicated to Álvaro Siza, Pritzker Prize laureate and a leading figure of contemporary architecture, to be held at MAAT, the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon.
Produced by Gallery and directed by Augusto Custodio, the film offers an intimate and sensitive look at the life and work of Álvaro Siza, unveiling his creative journey, his universal relevance and the influence he continues to exert on successive generations of architects.
The documentary SIZA reveals a man of uncommon strength, shaped by the course of life to devote himself entirely to architecture. Mind, body, and soul merge with his craft, becoming inseparable. His journey is marked by the transformation of work into the absolute pillar of existence, where discipline and creation walk side by side. Along this path, he shows us that each of us can find answers to face the adversities life imposes. We were fortunate that Siza chose architecture as his path, creating a profound mark that continues to influence architectural thought and practice worldwide. - Augusto Custodio.
The event features the curatorship of Martha Thorne, who led the Pritzker Prize as Executive Director for 18 years and currently serves as Director of Strategic and Institutional Relations at the Gallery Institute.
The documentary “SIZA” has been selected for 24 international film and architecture festivals, consolidating its global projection and recognition as one of the most relevant productions of its kind.
The event at MAAT takes place in parallel with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, one of the most significant international events in the field, reinforcing the central role of the Portuguese capital in the global architectural landscape.
This is an exclusive gathering reserved for distinguished cultural and architectural figures, leading institutions and invited guests, who will have the opportunity to witness the return of the documentary to Portugal through a unique event at MAAT.

The premiere is held in partnership with MAAT. As a key reference in both the Portuguese and international cultural scene, MAAT has established Lisbon as a hub for reflection and experimentation between art, architecture and technology, fostering innovative dialogues and new interpretations of contemporaneity.
The event is also supported by OTIIMA, a Portuguese brand of minimalist window and façade systems, recognized for its innovative design, engineering precision and close collaborations with renowned architects and studios around the world.
The event at MAAT marks the conclusion of the festival circuit that featured the documentary SIZA with multiple nominations and paves the way for its highly anticipated world premiere in December this year. The film will be available on Gallery Originals, the streaming platform dedicated to the collections of films, series, and original documentaries produced by the Gallery Institute.
The event will be a private screening, reserved for invited guests, bringing together those who share a passion for architecture, art, and cinema.
